if you lower the car basically you are moving the wheel closer to the arch. but you are also moving the control arm (from wheel to steering rack) closer to the arch which is bad. by putting a spacer under the strut you put the control arm back where it is supposed to be but because it is spaced below the strut it doesnt affect the distance from wheel to arch so your body height doesnt change.

If you fit RCAs to a standard height car i dont know exactly what would happen but i dont imagine that it would be very pretty or fun to drive 

TOP TIP: most commodore and falcon drivers dont know about RCAs haha which is why their cars, while being low as fuck (and covered in UNIT stickers and chev badges), handle like shit despite being lower which should mean better handling ;)
